Advantages: Great pigmentation, long lasting

Disadvantages: Can dry lips out.

I have one lipglass from mac in the shade 'plus luxe', which is a bright red. Unfortunately this does not appear to be listed on the mac website anymore, leading me to believe it may have been limited edition. I will therefore attempt to make this a generic review of lipglass in general and hope that it holds true for the rest of the collection.

For starters, the lipglass retails currently at £11.50 on maccosmetics.co.uk. Each tube contains 4.2ml of product. The gloss has a black top with a wand attached, this screws into the tube of lipglass. The wand picks up a very ample amount of product, the top of the tube is wide enough to let it pass through without scraping all the product off which is a bonus.

The lipglasses contain what looks like very fine glitter dust in them, giving the lipglass an irridescent light reflecting quality. When applied the lipglass gives amazing definition to the lips, for example I often apply the red one I own over the top of Benetint lipstain from Benefit, the two compliment each other perfectly, with the lipglass giving the strong definition which the Benetint does not. The lipglass I have is very well pigmented whilst still remining sheer.

One downside to the product in my opinion is that it appears to be one of those lip products which seem to almost burn a little when applied. This isn't a massive issue, it doesn't cause me pain it's just a bit uncomfortable. It does go away and I hear that products which give very defined and long lasting colour can do this. As a result of this however I do find that it sometimes dries my lips out a bit. On the upside the staying power of this product is one of the best I have experienced, it lasts a long time, although it can need touching up if you are drinking/eating, but the tube is small anyway this could be carried around with you.

Overall I would give the product 4/5 because it does perform it's job well, it's just a shame that it can dry my lips sometimes, also I feel that it is a tad overpriced for the amount of product that you get in the tube. If you used this everyday I think it would run out quickly and therefore I use it as an occasional look rather then a daily one.

Summary: A good product which performs as it claims, yet is slightly expensive for the amount you receive.

MAC Lipstick

Advantages: Looks great, feels great.

Disadvantages: The twisty thing is too easy.

I love Mac Make-up and I bought my first Mac Lipstick after a complete make over there. The first shade I bought was a very natural shade in gloss and my second one was a colourful lipstick also in gloss.

*Packaging*
It comes in a very stylish classic black box, and the lipstick is bullet shaped also black. The lipstick is normal lipstick size and has the standard screw bottom, it fits very well into your handbag or pocket. The one bad aspect is that my lipstick has screwed its self, resulting in a squashed end (not good).

*Application*
I rarely use lipstick brushes, though it is easy to put on a lipstick brush. The lipstick is quite thick and so the brush should be cleaned after each use unless you only use one colour. I find these lipsticks are fine for just applying straight from the stick, they glide onto your lips very easily.

*Range of colours*
You can get matt and gloss and a huge range of colours. They will also let you try them on before buying, although I have had one bad experience in that a service girl put a dreadful colour on me and then didn't wipe it off before applying another colour (also horrible), so I had to walk through the shop all the way to the toilets with bright pink lips and then wipe it off there.

*Staying power*
I have found that they stay really well, I need to reapply probably 3 times through out the working day, but that includes having coffee eating lunch etc. They will also come off during a night out. So the staying power isn't great, but I would prefere it that way then have them pasted to your lips.

*Value for money*
Well they feel really nice and I think they moisturise my lips. I also like their colours and yes the packaging as well. I think they are a little pricy, but not outrageous as your lips are an important part of you.

Summary: A good product which is a little pricy.

Advantages: Huge array of colours, Long lasting, Dream to apply

Disadvantages: Quite expensive

I recently leapt on the MAC bandwagon a few weeks ago buy purchasing: Trax and Vanilla powder eyeshadow, Mauvism, Stilife and Untitled Paints and Cubic blusher. These products are excellent and worth every penny!

I am so in love with the paints and Trax eyeshadow. The paints are very pigmented and are a dream to apply - they are a cream that comes in these cute little "paint tubes", hence the name, and they dry to a powdery, amazing lasting finish. They make great bases (especially Untitled, which is a very natural looking creamy, beige colour with a teeny amount of shimmer). Stilife is a very pretty, VERY shimmery pale peachy colour. Mauvism is an unbelievably gorgeous colour -- light mauve with a lovely metallic shimmer to it (this is my favourite paint, followed by Untitled as a close second). To apply, just get a very small amount on your finger and gently tap it onto your eyelid (at first I was smearing it over my eyelid but this didnt look right at all - I then got the excellent tip of the "tapping"!) By applying a little bit at a time you can build up the intensity of the colour from very very subtle, to amazingly striking colour - especially with the Mauvism paint. Personally, I prefer my makeup to look natural 99% of the time, so I only apply one layer of colour when I use Mauvism. However, I like to use 2 layers of Untitled because it is such a natural looking colour anyway, it doesnt look too obvious!
Paints are £12 each in England - cheaper in America and Canada (MAC is from Canada)

The Trax eyeshadow is in the Velvet range of eyeshadows (there is a choice of Frost, Matte, Satin or Velvet). It is a plummy-burgundy kind of colour with a gold/bronzy shimmer to it. It is so very pretty! And again, it is so easy to apply - application is smooth and, like the paints, you can build up the intensity of it. I like to use it along with Mauvism paint - I use Mauvism all over my eyelid and then Trax in the crease for defi
nition. Vanilla eyeshadow is also from the Velvet range and is a pale ivory/peachy colour with very subtle shimmer. It makes a good base and highlighter for the browbone. These eyeshadows are so soft to apply and last forever (well, almost!)
Powder eyeshadows are £9 each.

The Cubic blush - I never used to wear blusher but I saw someone with this blusher on and I had to ask what it was because it looked so nice. So off I went to get some ;) I dont wear it very often but it is a very nice colour - a soft pinky colour which looks very natural, but I am not sure if it is for me or not. Maybe it will look better with a bit of a tan! (I am quite pale) As with all the MAC makeup I have tried so far (and there will be a WHOLE LOT more to follow! ;) ), it is long lasting.
Blusher is £12.

I have so many MAC products that I want to buy now. Not sure my husband will appreciate me spending £12 on an eyeshadow, but hey, its a womans prerogative! ;) He can spend it on computer games.... ;)
